ASSISTANT LANGUAGE TEACHER(ALT)
Kita High is a base school for an ALT,who gives an increased incentive for higher scholarship, more practical language training and deeper cross-cultural awareness.
EXCHANGE PROGRAMS
We have partnership schooIs in the U.S.A. with which we enjoy annual exchange activities. Kita High students stay in private homes, and attend school lessons with their host students. American students, vice versa, also visit our school, and spend their time with us learning the Japanese language and our culture. In addition to the short-term exchange programs, there are an increasing number of students who wish to study abroad for the period of one year and sometimes more. They go to various countries such as the U.S.A.,Germany,and China and come back to the schooI with their international horizons broadened.
EXCHANGE STUDENTS FROM OVERSEAS
The school also welcomes a few overseas students from multifarious countries. They study with Kita High students for about a year and play an active role in introducing their culture and in teaching new perspectives and values. They are conscientious workers in learning the Japanese language and our culture.
SUPER ENGLISH LANGUAGE HIGHSCHOOL(SELHi)
From April 2003,Kita High was designated as the Super English Language HighSchool(SELHi)for Tochigi Prefecture. Over the next three years, instructors sought to raise the linguistic abilities of students by conducting English classes mainly in English, using Japanese only when necessary. Periodicaly, classes were opened to the public for observation and evaluation, followed by a discussion with other teachers and professors as to how classes were conducted.
