Von der Leyen targeted by new no-confidence drive in EU Parliament
1:14
Two political groups in the European Parliament have announced plans to file motions of no confidence against the European Commission under Ursula von der Leyen. The announcements by the right-wing group Patriots for Europe and the Left follow a major speech delivered by von der Leyen to European Union lawmakers earlier on Wednesday. In her State of the Union address, the commission president urged lawmakers to back her key policy projects for the coming years, from continued support for war-torn Ukraine and improving the EU's defence capacities to new trade agreements. Von der Leyen easily su...
UN, aid groups warn Israel's Gaza City evacuation call is dangerous
1:14
The United Nations and humanitarian organizations on Wednesday criticized Israel's call for Palestinians to leave Gaza City, describing it as a dangerous escalation. Israel has designated an area in the south of the Gaza Strip as a humanitarian zone, but aid groups said the necessary steps to ensure safety there have not been taken. Supplies are already insufficient for those sheltering in the area, they warned, let alone for additional arrivals from Gaza City, located in the north. On Tuesday, Israel urged all Gaza City residents to evacuate the city of around 1 million people as it prepares ...
Poland summons Russian envoy after 'unprecedented attack'
1:14
Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski has condemned the intrusion of more than a dozen drones into Polish airspace, calling it "an unprecedented attack not only on Polish territory, but also on NATO territory." The chargé d’affaires of the Russian Embassy was summoned on Wednesday afternoon to the Foreign Ministry in Warsaw, where he was handed a note of protest, Sikorski told reporters. The Russian diplomat denied the drones were Russian. "If there had been an admission of guilt, that would have been progress, but we would prefer it if the Russians did not send any drones," Sikorski said....
PWM sensitivity will no longer be an issue on the iPhone 17 Pro
1:14
Macworld Apple had a lot to say about its new phones during the “Awe Dropping” event Tuesday, but there were plenty of little features that couldn’t fit in the keynote. One interesting feature spotted in the iOS 26 release candidate includes a reference to an option to disable pulse width modulation (PWM) in the iPhone 17 Pro. PWM is a method for adjusting display brightness by quickly switching the screen pixels on and off. However, some people can notice a flickering effect, and it can be particularly bothersome, causing eye strain and other health issues. At low brightness, PWM can produce ...
Ursula von der Leyen's State of the European Union speech: As it happened
1:12
Ursula von der Leyen has delivered her State of the European Union speech in Strasbourg, touching upon the most critical and pressing issues on the agenda. Among her first lines was a firm condemnation of Russian incursion into Polish airspace, which shook the NATO alliance just hours before her address. "Just today, we have seen a reckless and unprecedented violation of Poland and Europe's airspace by more than 10 Russian Shahed drones. Europe stands in full solidarity with Poland," she said, prompting applause in the chamber. She then offered a preview of the next EU package of sanctions aga...
