The police have shot a man at the Montparnasse train station in Paris who was wielding a knife. Officers had been waiting for the 44-year-old, who was arriving on a train from the north-western city of Rennes, as part of an investigation into domestic violence, the public prosecutor's office said on Friday. When the man drew a knife upon his arrival, a railway police officer shot him in the leg. Subsequently, the man stabbed himself in the neck with the knife.
